The Mood Therapist was delighted to serve up a selection of modernist cocktails to a great crowd, including the Ambassador to the United States of America, Mr. Ted Osius, at the ASEAN Pride Festival 2015 held at the American Club in Hanoi on 20 June 2015.
Included in the cocktail line up was a modern interpretation of that American classic, the Mint Julep, only this one was made using liquid nitrogen to muddle the mint into a fine powder with no oxidisation so it could instantly adding it’s fresh vibrant flavour to Bulleit bourbon before being strained into a double old fashioned, filled with shaved ice and topped with smoked maple syrup and a sprig of fresh smacked mint.
Also featured was Tony C’s rose and pink peppercorn negroni (cooked in a water bath to integrate the flavours), Dave Arnold’s cold buttered rum (using a Ticaloid syrup to prevent it breaking when shaken with ice) and Gin & Juice – Tanqueray gin, clarified pomelo juice and a touch of simple syrup, carbonated and served in a champagne flute.
The crowd was large and lively and the festivities went late. Tip of the hat to the guys at CAMA for organizing the festival and rounding up a great roster of local and international artists.
